This is the opposite of a concrete foundation whereby you need to dig a hole and pour concrete into it. Not only does concrete take more time to install and dry but it’s also not effective in climates where there are freeze-thaw cycles. In these climates, the challenge is to make sure that you go deep enough below the frost line so that your concrete will not heave in the spring. Though with helical piles, since your helix is below the frost line there’s no risk of movement. This means it will say stay steady and not slant! Should you decide to move your EV charging station to another location and you’d put in a concrete foundation, you’d need to dig it up and repour concrete into a new hole. Whereas with helical piles there’s no digging up your footing and no filling holes needed. Instead, you simply remove the helical pile from the ground and install it at another location.

WHERE IS THE BEST PLACE TO INSTALL YOUR EV CHARGING STATION?

The most common installation spots we see are the home charging stations being installed directly in the garage or on the side of the house. That’s because the farther away from the home you go, the more costly it will be to route the wires to the charging station. Although having it directly in the garage or in the house isn’t always an option, some people opt to have the charging station installed with a pedestal floor stand.

HOW TO INSTALL AN EV CHARGING STATION

When using a pedestal floor stand the power cable and communication cables run through the ground and up the pedestal pole to the terminals inside the charging point. Using helical piles to support the pedestal is a great option to make sure your charging station will always remain level.
